I ask of you, are you my main?
The newMelty Blood: Type Luminalaunches in just a few days, but today developer French Bread announced another combatant coming to the fighting game. Saber, as seen in theFateseries, will be a fighter inMelty Blood: Type Lumina.
It’s not too much of a reach for a guest character appearance, considering bothFateandTsukihime—the visual novelMelty Bloodis based on—are both written by Kinoku Nasu. (They’re also kind of in the same universe, but that’s acomplicated topic.)

Saber’s appearance inMelty Bloodis also exciting because it’s been a while since she guested inNitroplus Blasterzand even longer since the dedicatedFatefighting game,Unlimited Codes. Plus, it’s a pretty good adaptation of her; she’s got the invisible blade that can turn into the golden sword Excalibur, and plenty of fast, powerful sword moves.
Melty Blood: Type Luminais the latest version ofMelty Blood, a fighting game with a cult following based off the visual novelTsukihime. Developed by French Bread, who also makes theUnder Night In-Birthseries, it’s a series of fighting games pretty full of action-packed anime brawling.

It’s also just a new fighting game to check out though, which is always exciting. It missed the date to be included in any of the Evo 2021 Online festivities, but who knows? It’d be cool to see someMelty Bloodon stage next year. And with both a newGuilty Gearand ongoing games likeDragon Ball FighterZ,plusrollback updates to older gamescoming through, it’s been a pretty good time for anime fighters.
Melty Blood: Type Luminadrops on Sept. 30, 2021 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
