Limited Run Games and Konamihave announcedthat the digital version of theRocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparkedcollection will be releasing on Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on June 11.
Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparkedcontains the three 16-bit games in theRocket Knightseries. This includes the originalRocket Knight Adventures, the GenesisSparkster(subtitledRocket Knight Adventures 2), and the SNESSparkster(not subtitled). To be clear, GenesisSparksterand SNESSparksterare two completely different games featuring the series’ protagonist. Of the included games, one of them is the very best Genesis/Mega Drive ever made, and the other two are games.
Okay, that’s not quite fair. SNESSparksterand GenesisSparksterare both decent – maybe even above average – platformers, but they don’t even hold a candle to the original.
Limited Run Games did a round of pre-orders for the physical version ofRocket Knight Adventures: Resparkedback in Januaryand promised a digital release for anyone not interested in material possessions, but previously had not announced a date. I scooped upthe Ultimate Editionof it at the time. I don’t usually go for special editions because I have enough random game collectibles, butRocket Knight Adventuresis one of my favorite games.
The collection will not only include modern comforts such as save states and rewind, but also a new boss rush mode and a “franchise museum and music player.”
