But, I need fighting robots to live!

Well, this is some bittersweet news. Radiant Entertainment, the developer behind the excellent-looking minimalist fighting game,Rising Thunder, has been acquired by Riot Games.

While the Radiant guys are obviously super talented and I’m excited to think about what they could do with a financial juggernaut like Riot funding them, the acquisition unfortunately meansRising Thunderhas to be put on the back burner for now. FromRadiant’s statement:

As forRising Thunder, the team will start work on a new game that we’re incredibly excited about. We wish we could say more now, but rest assured you’ll hear more when the time is right. For now, we will be closing theRising ThunderAlpha on March 18th. Thanks to everyone who participated in the test!

I onlyplayed a littleofRising Thunder, but I thought it was already shaping up to be something special. Hopefully the developers will be able to get back to it soon. On the plus side, Radiant’s other current project,Stonehearth, will continue development as is.
