I think it’s the “gotta catch ’em all” mentality that keeps me invested inWorld of Warcraftwell after I’ve finished the main storyline. I suppose that’s a win for both Blizzard and me as nearly 20 years later, I’m still chasing mounts. One of the most interesting I’ve found is also one of the easiest to obtain: the fiery snail, Magmashell.
Dragonflight’s best mount isn’t even a dragon
To acquire the Magmashell mount, you’ll first need to acquire theEmpty Magma Shell. This item is dropped by Lava Snails, Lava Slugs, and Lavaslurpers around the various lava pools in The Waking Shores. Alternatively, you’re able to purchase it from the Auction House. Current prices for the item on my server are around 1900 gold.
With the Empty Magma Shell in hand, we’re headed to a small pool of lava east of Scalecracker Keep in The Waking Shores. Hanging out at the bottom of this lava flow will be anEmpowered Snail. To get the mount, we need to dive into the lava and interact with the Empowered Snail.
The trick here is that channeling the snail takes 20 seconds which means you’re constantly taking damage from the lava and cannot perform any other actions. There are two ways to accomplish this task: findsomeone to heal youthrough it or pop any and all class abilities like the Paladin’s Divine Shield and Shield of Vengeance.
It will likely take you a few attempts if you’re doing it solo, but hang in there. Sure, you’ll probably die a few times in the process and the Magmashell can’t even fly, but the sheer cool factor of riding a snail made of lava outweighs any cons.
