[Update: Niantic Games provided the following statementto Game Informer: “We have decided to forego our GDC talk onPokémon GOin order to focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch,” says Niantic CEO John Hanke. “As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be.” ]

Talk about unceremonious.

After its announcement in September of 2015, we haven’t heard much from thePokémon Gofront. That was supposed to changeat GDC in several weeks, but that plan has been altered. As of today a tipster directed me to the official GDC listing on the event’s site, which has listed the Go presentation as “canceled.” It was a 30 minute session hosted by Niantic’s CEO John Hanke, and was supposed to actually show off the tech with a “new Bluetooth wearable device created by Nintendo.”

We’ve reached out to Nintendo for more information, but for now, it’s kind of just been brushed off.
