‘Our teams are working hard to ensure both titles will support backwards compatibility’ A bit of good news today: two more big-name games are going to get free upgrades for the next generation. Bethesda announced this morning that bothDoom EternalandThe Elder Scrolls Onlinewere coming to Xbox Series XandPS5, and that they would be eligible for free upgrades. As a reminder, Microsoft has its SmartDelivery system ready to go to make that all pretty easy for everyone, while Sony has some sort of mystery program we don’t really know about yet....

I’ve become an extremely jaded MMO player over the years. With so many games in the genre being derivative and unoriginal, it’s tough not to be cynical. With that said, we recently had the opportunity to head out to Trion Studio in Redwood Shores to get hands-on with their upcoming MMORPG,ÂRift: Planes of Telara. To celebrate the day, his studio staff surprised him with the most goth cake in the history of birthdays, iced (or “frosted”) in the style of theDeath Stranding“Bridges” teaser image. Coming off of its Kickstarter last year Aftera successful Kickstarter, it seemed like the only platformInsanity’s Bladewould see is the PC, as it didn’t reach the Wii U stretch goal. But developer Casual Bit Games has just announced that they’ve become a Nintendo approved developer, and the game will be coming to the Wii U anyway. All in all it looks like a pretty good fit for the Wii U considering its retro roots, but we’ll see if the rest of the gameplay measures up....

To what extent is unknown King of Fighters XIVdidn’t make the splash that SNK intended in the pro scene, but they still seem proud of it nonetheless. In addition to a massive visual overhaul they’ve also peppered in various bits of DLC, worked on the netcode, and provided various fixes and the like since its August 2016 launch. The folks over at 4Gamer decided to check in with Yasuyuki Oda, Game Department Vice Manager and 1st Studio Producer for SNK, who stated that things were going swimmingly with the series and that this year,XIVwill be getting a new update on top of a 40th anniversary celebration of SNK as a company....
