Pixelated gore is second-best gore

Retro-fabulousOlliOllideveloper Roll7 has announced its next project, and if these first couple of screenshots are any indication, it’s going to be deliciously, decadently violent. You’re looking atNot A Hero, a 2D cover shooter being published by Devolver Digital for PC and consoles.

Not A Herofollows the misadventures ofTron BonneSteve, a “murderous loner” who’s enlisted by the anthropomorphic BunnyLord to clean up the city before a mayoral election. As Steve, it’s your job to clear out five different districts of crime to ready the city for their overlord and bucktoothed master. That means you’re gonna kill a lot of dudes.

Roll7 is touting several different characters with their own unique weapons (like shotguns and katanas so you can relive thoseGunZ: The Dueldays) and a presentation they’re calling ISO-Slant, a mixture of side-scrolling and isometric aesthetics.

Pictured above in the first half is Rust Cohle in 2012, and the bottom depicts the massacre I’d leave in my wake if told I could take home an honest-to-goodnessParaParaParadisemachine as a prize. Actually, I’d be willing to bet that suave cigarette-smoking Cool Guy is Steve, and that trail of bodies happened because BunnyLord willed it. It’s actually looking pretty sweet, like tenants from yourTiny Towergame went on a rampage.
