About 10k are going out

If you’re one of the many people that plunked down $350 for the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2, it might end up on your doorstep sooner than later. Oculus recently announced that the first 10,000 units were sent from the manufacturing plant to a center for distribution. These 10,000 DK2s are expected to reach buyers on July 14 at the earliest, and sometime in August at the latest.

Even though it seems like a large number, it’s actually less than a quarter of the total Development Kit 2 sales. Currently, more than 45,000 DK2s have been ordered. There’s no word about how quickly Oculus will be able to manufacture the remaining units, but it certainly has an interest in getting them into consumers’ hands as quickly as possible. Hopefully it can, because everyone should be able to experiencegames like these.
