WasCyberpunk Edgerunnersyour introduction to theCyberpunk 2077universe, and did it, by mere chance, leave you wanting to get revenge on Adam Smasher? Well, then, I believe I have good news for you if you’re curious about his inclusion in the base game.

The simple answer is yes. Adam Smasher is inCyberpunk 2077, as well as in the TTRPG that originated the game. In fact, that should be the go-to if you really want to get to know the character, as his portrayal in the base game is a bit lackluster. Not interested in getting into the old TTRPG? Fine, I’ll tell you all there is to know about this absolute unit.

Who is Adam Smasher

Adam Smasher is a full cyborg. That means that he’s now nearly 100% machine but was once human. And when I say human, I mean solely in the technical sense. Smasher spent his entire time as a biological entity behaving like a total beast.

Smasher was born in the late twentieth century and began making a name for himself as a ruthless gang member. Things with his gang didn’t pan out, as they usually don’t in Night City. The army destroyed his former organization, and upon seeing the army’s might, Smasher decided to enlist. This gave him all the excuse he needed to enjoy an even more brutal lifestyle.

Even though he displayed excellent combat skills, he once got severely injured by enemy RPG fire. Arasaka,Cyberpunk 2077‘s residing megacorp, offered repairs that would replace every part of his human body with robotic parts. He accepted. The result was what you’re able to see in the animated series, an iron-clad monster that looks like Evil Robocop.

Similar stories tend to have the robo-fied character lamenting their existence — even if for just a while before the next cool shootout takes place. Not this guy’s story, though. Smasher became an excellent gun for hire. He claimed to work for Arasaka to pay for his life debt, but that’s not true. Smasher actually did it because he got addicted to killing. He craved blood and actively sought violent outcomes even when his targets didn’t pose a threat.

Adam Smasher is one of the main antagonists in the game. He’s the once-man responsible for capturing and killing Johnny Silverhand, our AI sidekick played by Keanu Reeves.

Can we smash the Smasher?

Adam Smasher is the final boss in the original game. People who’ve seenEdgerunnerswill get to have their revenge on Smasher both for killing Silverhandandfor what he did inthe animated series.

Once you defeat Smasher, you can lay the smackdown on him or even spare his quasi-life. It’s fine either way. This decision won’t influence the ending you get, so yeah, feel free to plug on that meat grinder.
