As part ofthe 1.10 update toFinal Fantasy XVI, Clive can now equip the iconic Onion Sword. While he can’t wear the full Onion Knight armor to go along with it (yet), it’s still a welcome perk for those playing the game. But how do you get it?

To get the Onion Sword, players will have to clear the main story quest “A Chance Encounter.” This isveryearly in the adventure, taking place shortly after what most would consider the game’s prologue. With this out of the way, go into your in-game main menu. Select the “System” tab, and from there, tab over to “Redeemable Items.” This is the icon that looks like a Treasure Chest (pictured below). You should see the Onion Sword here, which will go into your inventory as soon as you accept it.

That’s all there is to it! Even if you don’t equip the Onion Sword, you can use it as a weapon skin by visiting the Arete Stone.

The Onion Sword stats inFinal Fantasy XVI

The Onion Sword has a clean 160 Attack and Stagger damage. For those who have progressed a decent way into the game, you’ve certainly found better weapons than this. However, for the early game, the Onion Sword is great. This should give you a noticeable jump in power relative to the other options available to you.

Just don’t rely on this sword for too terribly long. You’ll want to craft bigger and better weapons to fully unlock Clive’s power throughoutFinal Fantasy XVI.
