The Upheaval only made the weapon durability issue worse

One of the more controversial parts ofBreath of the Wildwas, and always will be, its weapon durability system. And this controversy only deepened inTears of the Kingdom,as many of the weapons in the game are now decayed and dirty, far from the shiny, pristine swords from the previous game.

Thankfully, there are a couple of ways to help with this issue.

If you aren’t quite ready to get theMaster SwordinTears of the Kingdom, you might want to know how to get some clean weapons. Unfortunately, most of the weapons that you find will be rusty, decayed, dirty, and lesser forms of the classic weapons you are used to, due to the catastrophic events that happen at the start of the story.

Oddly enough, the game doesn’t quite give you the chance to make these weapons clean. Instead, if you want to get clean weapons inTears of the Kingdom, you’ll have to look outside of the surface world of Hyrule.

Instead, you’ll need to venture into the Depths beneath Hyrule. This underground map features various shadowy statues you’ll find throughout the world. These statues carry free weapons for you to pick up. The best part is that they are generally the typical clean versions of the long swords, halberds, claymores, and the like you are used to.

This is currently the only way to get basic clean weapons inTears of the Kingdom.

How to repair your weapons inTears of the Kingdom

While you can’t make your dirty weapons clean inTears of the Kingdom, you can repair them. Similar to the hidden mechanic fromBOTW, Octorois are going to be your best friend. You can usually find these creatures near Death Mountain in the Goron area of Hyrule.

Octoroks normally shoot out objects at you to damage you from afar. However, you can take this mechanic and use it for your benefit. What you can do is find an Octoroks, approach it, and drop whatever damaged weapon you have.

Walk away so that the Octorok stops hiding and it will suck up the weapon you dropped. Then it will spit it back out at you, but better than ever. The durability will be max level again, letting you use that weapon for much longer. In addition, this generally gives the weapon an attack boost to boot.

You can do this with pretty much all swords, shields, and bows that you find in the game. The only main exceptions to the rule are weapons you get fromamiibo, likely due to their special nature, and magic rods for some odd reason.
