Well, it’s finally here — the day whenThe Evil Withinis upon us at last, and we get to see how this thing turned out. Not us, mind you;Bethesda wasn’t so quickto forward us a copy for review. But, I can assure you that we have Chris “Chili’s Is The Perfect Lunch Spot” Carter hard at work on churning it out for you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, plenty of other sites got their hands on it prior to this morning’s embargo. Reviews seem to be all over the place, indicating it may be headed for cult classic status. If we can’t promote consumer advocacy through our own opinion, we’ll do our best to point you to others who may be able to help.
Game Informercould find almost nothing bad to say aboutThe Evil Within. On the other hand,Joystiqfound almost nothing redeeming about it. InThe Escapist’s review, our old friend Jim Sterling called the combat “inefficient and tricky” and deemed the entire game unfair at times, but acceptable overall. Conversely,Polygonthought that the combat was excellent.
This looks to be a divisive one. Just remember that your mileage may (and probably will) vary.
