Microsoft has just announced thatFable Legendswill be free-to-play. Well, that’s certainly an interesting way to go about it.
It will launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, and requires Xbox Live Gold for the former. This will be the most “accessible”Fableiteration yet, and the entire story can be played for free, with a rotation of heroes and villains to play as. I just hope that they don’t go overboard with microtransactions, and that a “full” game can be purchased somehow.
Seeing Microsoft embrace free-to-play more is a sign of the times. Initially it was resistant to it, only featuring a few games with the scheme, but with coaxing from developers likeWorld of Tanks‘ Wargaming, Microsoft seems to be more receptive — although, I’m sure the Gold requirement is still annoying for some.
