The Pre Astyanax IV is part of thePrecision Frame archetype of bows, giving a longer draw time in exchange for increased damage. This makes it particularly good at taking down single targets such as orange health bar enemies, but not so great at taking down groups. The perks we take want to help further that goal, while perhaps improving the bow’s ability to deal with groups of red health bar enemies. This setup can do just that:
Agile Bowstring provides some decent quality of life, letting you swap to the bow faster while handling it just a little better. Compact Arrow Shaft helps the swapping and aiming a little more, while also increasing reload speed so you can get that arrow back a little faster.Archer’s Tempo is where things start to get interesting, decreasing draw time after scoring a precision hit. Since you’re going for those anyway, this is just more DPS outright. Incandescent is how we solve the main problem of bows having no AoE, causing damage over time to nearby enemies.
How to get the Pre Astyanax IV
If you don’t have the bow yet, you may get it as arotating reward from Nightfall strikes. This only shows up as the reward once in a while, so be sure to check that week’s Nightfall reward to know for sure. Lower Nightfall difficulties have a chance to drop the weapon, while Grandmaster Nightfall runs are guaranteed to drop an Adept version of that week’s weapon. Adept versions offer better stats along with two choices for the Bowstring, Arrow, and first perk.
