Sketchy Logic’s bird-brained legal sim is a resounding success
Coventry, England-based studio Sketchy Logic’s delightfully clever twist on the legal sim,Aviary Attorney, wrapped up its Kickstarter campaign today. The project went far beyond its modest £7,000 funding goal and topped out at £18,917, allowing the team to reach three out of the six possible stretch goals outlined on itsKickstarter page.
While the project fell short of securing a full chamber orchestra to perform the soundtrack, it did bring in enough funding to cover an additional chapter featuring the extended adventures of Renard Vulpes with enough left over to hire an editor to polish up the game’s writing.
All in all, theAviary AttorneyKickstarter seems to have done quite well for itself. In a brief congratulatory email with the developers today, I asked programmer, writer, and designer Jeremy Noghani what might be next for the studio. While obviously a bit early for any solid information on the team’s future plans, I was exceedingly curious ifAviary Attorneymight continue on as a series if it proved commercially successful; and if not, whether Sketchy Logic would continue repurposing assets found within the public domain to create exciting new experiences.
“We have quite a few ideas, but we’re going to focus onAviary Attorneybefore thinking about sequel and spin-off potential,” said Noghani. “In any case, it would be great to see some other developers experiment with the public domain.”
Well, I’ll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed. The ideas the studio is playing with here and the characters it has constructed seem far too large to be contained within a single game.
