‘Each game represents a different personality’ Developer Michael Hicks has announced a new project for the PS4 — it’s calledPillar. It will consist of a collection of minigames, each modeled after a different personality type. Examples given are introverts, logical people, and emotion-driven individuals. While the game doesn’t look too impressive on a technical level, the concepts are intriguing, and I definitely want to see more. Influences include the filmMagnolia(one of my favorites), and philosophies from designers like Jason Rohrer and Jonathan Blow....

V3.3 Epic Games has been handlingFortnite‘s Battle Royale component very well over the past few months. They’re quick to fix things from game-breaking issues to small balance adjustments, and are steadily adding more cosmetic content and meaningful updates to the game. That includes V3.3, which focuses on remote explosives (a classic shooter equipment piece), as well as the treasure chest-esque supply llamas (which are loot boxes in the nearly forgotten horde component ofFortnite)....

Not as divisive The Divisioncame out a little too half-baked for my taste. It seems like a lot of people felt that way actually, and while Ubisoft could have let it rot, much like several other recent franchises under their wing, they slowly chipped away at it until it became a more presentable prospect. Although you’re effectively starting over, the sequel is partially a result of all of that hard work: complete with several of the same mistakes....

Kane & Lynch: Dead Menwas one of the most notorious games of this generation. Famously bad, the game made headlines after a GameSpot reviewer gave it a low score and ended up fired because, allegedly, it had upset Eidos and the site’s marketing department. After a backlash from critics and a name forever tarnished with corrupt business practices and dreadful quality, it’s surprising thatKane & Lynchever managed to get a sequel, but here we are....

I’ll take Vice City VR It was a pretty incredible sight to seeL.A. Noire, one of my flawed-yet-favorite games of the past few generations,get another lease on life in 2017. Billed as “The VR Case Files,” the game was handled by former Team Bondi developers who worked on the originalL.A. Noire, and it seems like Rockstar is happy enough with the project to greenlight another game. According toa Linkedin listing on Video Game Deluxe’s page, the studio is allegedly working on a new “open world AAA title in VR” for Rockstar....

The Batman is very pleased this day. His next adventure,Batman: Arkham City, is “complete,” playable from start to finish and in need only of some tender polishing. The information was discovered on a recent OPM podcast (#11 for those who want to hear for themselves), which revealed some exciting new details about the sequel. For one, there’s a new grapple system that propels you into the air, which should make for some extended bat flight and some harsh punishment from above....
