And it continues to be my dream game I’m an explorer at heart. I derive a vast amount of pleasure from wandering around game-spaces, experimenting with mechanics, and generally seeing what trouble I can get into and hopefully get out of. Some of my fondest memories of being a digital explorer come from the should-have-been-revolutionaryOutcast, a ’90s PC title that sees the protagonist stranded on a bizarre alien world. Now I can relive some of the wonder I experienced in that classic in a new voxel-based sandbox title,Planet Explorers....

Currently in beta testing as part of the 4.50 system update We were excited enough to hear that Sony is at long last planningexternal hard drive supportfor PlayStation 4 with its impending 4.50 update, but there’s another alluring reveal for PS4 Pro owners. The company is beta testing a “Boost Mode” option that’s said to offer “improved gameplay, including higher frame rates, for some games that were released before the introduction of PS4 Pro....

Feel good getting out of the rain While the PC version ofPUBGis expecting a third map, Xbox One player’s have been stuck with the original since the launch late last year. Whileoriginally toutedas coming in May, console players will finally get the chance to experience Miramar as early as tomorrow thanks to the test servers. Similar to how the PC version ofPUBGfunctions, Xbox One gamers will need to download a test server build of the game that will give them access to the work-in-progress map....

Currently, it’s a free-to-play online shooter Quake Live, a free-to-play browser rendition ofQuakehas been going strong for a few years now — so strong in fact, that id Software is planning a full standalone release. By the end of the year a full game should be live, mostly due to the fact that Google Chrome and Firefox are going to screw around with plugin support. If you’re playing now, all you’ll have to do is install the game when it’s out, and you’ll be good to go....

Gotta earn money fast In a recentfinancial results briefingfor April to September 2015, Sega revealed a small drop in sales but an overall increase in profits compared to the same period last year. While net sales reached $1.2 billion, a 2.5 percent decrease compared to the same period the previous year, profits hit $7.9 million, compared to a $23 million loss the previous year. Basically, Sega didn’t release as many major titles, but didn’t lose any money on any major flops....

The latest preview is titled “Those Who Remain” and gives players a look at some of the other characters, alongside your custom protagonist, who made it through the the devastating earthquake that kicks of the narrative....

Right on Sony is moving swiftlytoward that 100 million PS4 sold mark, and is still content on giving us new game announcements, despite the fact thatthe PS5 is on the horizon in 2020. Part of that initiative is the “State of Play” series, which is basically Sony’s take on Nintendo Directs and Inside Xbox streams. They’ve had one so far and the next is slated for May 9 at 6PM ET, as announced this morning....

Live-action Miqo’te Square Enix will be teaming up with Sony Pictures Television and production company Hivemind Entertainment to create a live-actionFinal Fantasy XIVTV series. Set in the world of Eorzea, the show’s plotline will focus on a brand new narrative that will explore “the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict.” Details are mum because the show is still in the development phase with no cast planned as of yet....
