Award, taking everything from Outstanding Achievement in Story to the Game of the Year awards last night, sweeping the majority of the 13 categories they were nominated in. 7PM ET Although “select” folks have been able to enter the beta by way of account flagging, the officialOverwatchearly access period starts today, before the open beta kicks off later this week. Instead of a random algorithm choosing your fate, prospective players that pre-ordered the game received two codes over the weekend (one is for a “friend,” so you can probably bug someone for an extra) that will allow them to start playing during the early access event, which will open up tonight at 7PM ET....

While the original Neo Geo hardware has some of the finest gamepads you’ll ever experience–even if the button layout is a little odd–SNK dropped the ball in terms of control options for its Mini console. The original social distancing, masks-on adventure Lone Survivoris still my favorite gameabout suffering from psychosis, and as much of the world reaches month eight of government-mandated COVID-19 precautions, it’s now proven to be one of the most prophetic as well. Even under cheerier circumstances, the game was an intriguing downer, balancing quiet moments of isolation with your pet with tense, often horrific voyages into the outside world. Balancing the need to gather supplies, try (and often fail) to take care of yourself, and maybe even put an end to all the terrible things in your life made for a game with plenty of depth, despite mostly taking place in small, cramped spaces....

LFM DM (not VC) World of Warcraft Classicis still trucking! The game is basically on auto-pilot, with a dedicated massive fanbase behind it, but updates are still coming until that fateful day when Naxxramas arrives and Vanilla’s journey is over. What then? A newBurning Crusadeserver? A combined one that overtakes Vanilla? I guess we’ll see in a few years. For now, there’s the new Dire Maul update, which adds the 54-60 dungeon into the mix....

That’s my usual reaction to anything Yoji Shinkawa, best known for hisMetal Gearart does,especially his work forZone of the Enders. But now he’s working on a decidedly more western project inCall of Duty, tapped to do promotional art for theZombies ChroniclesDLC forBlack Ops III. His work includes renderings of all four of the “main” characters from the proper zombies timeline, including (from left to right in the header) Tank, Takeo, Nikolai, and Richtofen....

SEGA Forever will go on forever! There once was a time when rival game companies were willing to bring the fight straight to Nintendo’s biggest franchises.Beyond Oasiswas one of Sega’s attempts to bestThe Legend of Zeldaseries and while it was moderately successful in its day, the series has since faded into obscurity after a rather plain Sega Saturn prequel. Regardless of all that history and rumination on what could have been, the Genesis classic will now get a second lease on life thanks to SEGA Forever....
