SDCC: Watch this heated cinematic from The Last of Us

While there’s still plenty of Joel and Ellie in this new footage ofThe Last of Usfrom San Diego Comic-Con, Naughty Doghas unveileda new character for the game, Bill. Played by actorW. Earl Brown, Bill thankfully doesn’t take too long to take off his mask. It seems he has some history with Joel, though this is only a brief snippet that smartly doesn’t reveal any more than it ought to; just enough to grab our attention....

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus looks great in a 3D environment

This new trailer really shows off its assets For the longest time while watching this latestSenran Kagura: Shinovi Versustrailer, I thought I was looking at a bowl of Jello sitting on a table that someone wouldn’t stop tapping. But then I realized it was actually a video game. A game with plenty of lovely ladies and brawling action, which looks leagues better than the standard 3DSSenran Kaguragames I’ve seen. Real talk?...

Skyrim’s Survival mode is free this week

Get it before October 10 In late August,Bethesda’s paid mod system(Creation Club) went into beta forFallout 4. Even though the publisher gave people $1 worth of credits to play around with, the program was largely met with derision. Most of the mods were overpriced and underwhelming. Today, the Creation Club comes to the Special Edition ofSkyrim. Bethesda has a more considerable offering for this launch. Until October 10,Skyrim‘s “official” Survival mode is free....

Sonic 2 hack takes a dig at DIMPS

This just goes to show you how out of touch I am withSonic the Hedgehogfans. I had no idea there was a contingent of people out there who seem to despise the way Dimps has been treating the speed freak. I suppose it was to be expected but I would think that they would at least be happy that they’re getting games which aren’t developed by Sonic Team. Apparently not. The above video is a trailer forSonic the Hedgehog 2 “Dimps Edition”, a ROM hack of the aforementioned game which adds features of the upcomingSonic the Hedgehog 4in an effort to point out how awful they are....

Sony extending PS Plus subscriptions following outage

No word on how large an extension Monday this week, PSN went down for several hours on all Sony video game playing devices, from the PS3 and Vita to the PS4. Considering this meant paid services like PS Plus were not functioning, many consumers were unhappy about not being able to access a service they paid for. To make up for this, Sony is apparently extending PS Plus subscriptions to make up for this period of lost service....

The Daily Hotness: Nintendo opened up a can of worms

Check out everything Destructoid did today With Nintendo announcingThe Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Rebornyesterday, it got our minds chugging away at some of the other GameCube games that would be great in HD with GamePad support. Sure, most of the list is unrealistic, but we can dream, can’t we? Otherwise, Conrad brought us some nice Office Chat, the Podtoid crew released their weekly show, Jayson continued guiding us on an aural tour of Nintendoland, and much more happened on this lovely day....

The Tester gets all Fear Factor-ish on PSN next week

Sony’s PSN reality show “The Tester” might be my favorite guilty pleasure. The last two seasons have provided more laughs than I can recall, and simultaneously made me cringe at the thought of belonging to the same social category of some of the contestants. Season 3 is just around the corner and Sony’s released a teaser to give you a taste of what you can expect. Nothing says “I deserve to be a quality tester” like having cockroaches dumped on your head, right?...

Thor film actors be talkin’ in Sega’s Thor game

When I saw Sega’sThor: God of Thunderat New York Comic-Con, the developers were clear about the game not being a movie game. Instead, it would be a game that would release alongside the upcoming film, exploring different parts of the Thor mythos. Well, today Sega has announced that the voices and likenesses of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will appear inGod of Thunder. The two actors play Thor and Loki respectively in the upcoming film, which is out next spring....

Wait, the American Sniper writer is doing Afro Samurai 2?

Of Rogue Warrior fame I’m sorry, how did I miss this? All of this. Let me step back. Jim DeFelice co-wrote the bookAmerican Sniperwith the titular American sniper and Scott McEwen. This later spawned an unfortunate Oscar-bait film that made insane money (it almost caught up withThe Passion of the Christ) and even has its own specially designed IMDB page. But before all that, DeFelice was a light Tom Clancy penning military thrillers and, apparently, working with Namco onACE Combat....
